What We Do

Our mission is to connect, support and mobilize an informed and committed network to secure a healthy environment and stable climate for Canada

As a national organization, The Canadian Environmental Network operates across Turtle Island and the many diverse lands and territories of Indigenous peoples covering what is now known as Canada.

We understand that the places where we work, and those of our members and affiliate networks, are home to many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis, both past, present and future. We acknowledge our journey to learn from, support, and enact to action our continued commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

Mission

  • Our mission is to connect, support and mobilize an informed and committed network to secure a healthy environment and stable climate for Canada.

  • As a vital connector, we bridge environmental groups and join passionate individuals together to amplify voices for change and achieve maximal impact both nationally and internationally.

  • We will work to mobilize a vibrant environmental community, united in our efforts to drive meaningful change.

Vision

  • Rooted in our commitment to non-partisanship and the need for transformative change, RCEN is a catalyst for collaboration and connection.

  • We champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and environmental justice as the cornerstones of a sustainable future.

  • We honour and uphold Indigenous rights, recognize the profound wisdom and stewardship of Indigenous communities, and commit ourselves to advancing reconciliation as a guiding principle.

  • By amplifying our shared values and advocating for their integration into policy, we strive to foster a harmonious relationship between humanity and Nature, ensuring a thriving planet for generations to come.

Objectives

We strive to:

  • Coordinate national caucuses that empower environmental advocates and disproportionately impacted populations in important policy discussions.

  • Lead active collaboration among environmental advocates across Canada, fostering a united national response to environmental issues

  • Support members by spotlighting their efforts to protect, restore, and promote a healthy and sustainable environment.

  • Promote leadership and solidarity by sharing best practices, enabling access to resources, and driving evidence-based solutions to environmental problems.
